Family of 3, including 10-year-old boy, killed over alleged debt in Nueva Ecija

A couple and their 10-year-old son were fatally shot after three armed men stormed their store in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Ian Cruz’s report in “Saksi” on Thursday, the victims were brutally shot by the suspects who were armed with .45 caliber handguns.
The suspects immediately fled on two motorcycles after the incident.
Authorities were able to recover spent cartridges from the crime scene.
A manhunt operation by the police resulted in the arrest of two brothers. Meanwhile, two more suspects are still being hunted by authorities.
Police said the suspects could have committed the crime because of their unpaid debts to the victims.
“Since they could not pay their debts, there was an incident where they threw a grenade at the family. So the settlement was they paid P150,000 and gave them the title to their land,” said P/Capt. Noime Gogotano, public information officer of Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office.
Gogotano added the suspects could have been hired to commit the crime.
The suspects are now detained at the San Leonardo Police Station. They are facing multiple murder charges. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
