4 teens beaten inside Iloilo cemetery in alleged hazing
At least four teenagers were beaten by fellow teenagers in an alleged fraternity hazing in Oton, Iloilo.
According to Kim Salinas of GMA Regional TV on "24 Oras," the victims were blindfolded and surrounded by fellow teenagers when they were beaten in Oton Catholic Cemetery on Sunday.
When the victims fell from the beating, their fellow teenagers repeatedly kicked them.
The cemetery caretaker said he saw about 15 teenagers engaging in the alleged hazing, but they hurriedly fled when he caught their attention.
According to Barangay Poblacion South, the teenagers were not residents and may be part of a gang.
“First time itong nangyari sa hindi natin alam kung rambol yun o isa sa mga initiation sa mga sumasali sa kanilang grupo,” Barangay Poblacion South kagawad Raffy Dela Druz said.
(This is the first time we encountered it. We don’t know if it is a brawl or an initiation of incoming members.)
After the incident, the barangay said it would strengthen the cemetery’s security.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the incident.—Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA Integrated News
