Ahod Ebrahim declines appointment as BARMM Parliament member

Former Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Interim Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim disclosed on Monday that he declined the appointment to be a member of the Parliament.
In a statement, Ebrahim said: “I take this opportunity to thank President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for offering me another chance to serve in the Bangsamoro Government, this time as a Member of the Parliament. I have decided to respectfully decline said appointment.”
Ebrahim did not provide any reason why he refused to accept the appointment.
The newly appointed members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament took their oath of office on Saturday in Manila before new BARMM Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua.
The BTA Parliament is the interim government in the BARRM during the transition period, as per Republic Act No. 11054. It also holds legislative and executive powers.
Ebrahim said he would continue to lead the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and its political party, the United Bangsamoro Justice Party, while extending guidance and support to Macacua “as we move towards a brighter future for the Bangsamoro people.”
Ebrahim also congratulated his successor, noting that Macacua brings a wealth of experience to this new role.
“His leadership and commitment to peace and development in the region are well-documented. I wish him well in his endeavors,” Ebrahim said. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
