2-year-old girl trapped inside vehicle in Ilocos Norte, rescued

A two-year-old girl was rescued after being trapped inside a vehicle in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday.
In a statement, the PNP said around noon of March 17, Patrolmen Jayvee Vite and Rexor John Rogel were in the vicinity when the kid’s guardian approached them and asked for help.
The guardian said the toddler was left momentarily inside the car with the air conditioning on and accidentally pressed buttons inside the vehicle, causing it to lock.
“With the child trapped for nearly an hour, the officers, acting with urgency and care, sought permission from the child’s godparent to break a window and safely retrieve her,” the PNP said.
“Their decisive action prevented a potential medical emergency and ensured the child's well-being,” it added.
PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil commended the two cops from the Logistics/Supply Office of the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office for rescuing the girl.
"This act of service exemplifies the dedication and vigilance of our police force. Our duty extends beyond law enforcement—it is about protecting and serving our people in every possible way. I salute our officers for their swift action that saved a young life,” he said.
Following the incident, the PNP reminded the public to remain cautious and vigilant about children’s safety.
"This incident serves as a reminder that a moment of inattention can lead to danger, but with the presence of dedicated law enforcers, lives can be saved,” the PNP said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
