GenSan school puts measures in place against hotter weather

School in General Santos City

A school in General Santos City has put measures in place against extreme heat.

Like those in parts of Luzon, students of Lagao National High School started experiencing hotter weather.

“Init kaayo kaysa last month,” a student said.

“Bale aga pa pang on the way to school grabe na siya kainit.

To alleviate the effects of the intense heat, school officials have come up with a heat prevention plan, including the putting up of orbit fans at the covered court and additional electric fans in every classroom.

Drinking water is also available in each classroom to keep students hydrated.

In case the heat index rises, the school may implement asynchronous classes or distance learning.

State weather bureau PAGASA said humidity may also have contributed to the hotter weather even if the heat index in the area is still low, as of this writing.

PAGASA added that the public should bring protection from the intense heat such as an umbrella, among others.

The public is also advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and stay hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.GMA Regional TV
