Drunk slashes man in face during fight in Rodriguez, Rizal
Authorities arrested a drunken suspect after he slashed the face of a man with a knife during a fight in Rodriguez, Rizal over the weekend.
In EJ Gomez’s report Monday on “24 Oras,” the investigation showed the victim and his friends passed by the suspect and his companions who were in a drinking session in Barangay San Rafael early Sunday morning.
According to the 22-year-old victim, he heard the suspect say they would blow up a motorcycle, which later led to a brawl.
The police said when the suspect was losing the fight, he entered his house to get his butterfly knife, which he attempted to use in stabbing the victim, later slashing his face.
The victim sustained a cut on the left side of his face. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested a few hours after the incident.
The police also recovered the knife used in the incident.
The suspect said he was not the person who made the joke but one of his companions.
“Paglapit nya biniro nya ng “lighteran na natin yan ‘tol” tapos parang naano yung isang kasama niya na, “Ah may kargada rin kami rito (My friend said ‘let’s light this up’ to the victim’s group as they approached. One of them did not take the joke lightly and said they were also packing weapons.),” the suspect said.
He added that he attempted to end the fight but claimed the victim continued to provoke them, leading him to stab the victim out of anger.
The victim said he will pursue filing a frustrated homicide complaint against the suspect, who is detained at the Rodriguez Custodial Municipal Police Station. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
