Landslides, floods hit Luzon areas amid rains from Amihan, shear line

Some areas in Luzon experienced landslides and floods due to the rains brought by the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan and shear line, GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita reported on Monday.

In Banaue, Ifugao, landslide hit some areas including a portion of the Banaue - Mayoyao road, according to a report of Bea Pinlac. Debris like soil and rocks blocked the road.

No one was reported hurt in the incident.

According to state weather bureau PAGASA, the landslide occurred as Amihan brought rains in the area.

In Bulan, Sorsogon, the shear line brought rains that caused floods in some areas.

Floodwaters entered the houses of residents in some barangays, which forced some people to evacuate.

Affected residents used raft to cross the floods.

Motorists had a hard time passing a bridge over a spillway because of the strong current of flood.

According to the report, around 200 evacuees have returned to their homes as the floods gradually subsided.

In Brooke’s Point, Palawan, meanwhile, floods also hit 11 barangays after a river swelled amid the heavy rains.

Over 200 families were staying in evacuation centers, while some affected residents took shelter in the houses of their relatives.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
