Former teacher arrested in Iloilo for allegedly raping 14-year-old student
A former teacher was arrested in Iloilo for the allegedly raping his 14-year-old student with whom he claimed he had a relationship with.
According to Emil Sumangil’s exclusive report in “24 Oras” on Tuesday, the Pasig City Police went to Iloilo to serve the arrest warrant against the 35-year-old suspect for statutory rape charges issued by Pasig and Antipolo courts last year.
Investigation showed that the suspect was a former Science teacher who allegedly went into hiding in Iloilo where he is currently working in a BPO firm.
The suspect claimed he was in a relationship with the 14-year-old student, whom he allegedly raped several times.
“Ang complainant dito ay yung Tita ng victim, siya yung nag-report at siya na rin yung tumatayong guardian ng victim. So, sila yung nagsampa ng kaso hanggang sa lumabas yung warrant of arrest,” said Pasig Police chief Police Colonel Hendrix Mangaldan.
(The complainant here is the victim’s aunt, who also reported to the police and now serves as the victim’s guardian. So they both filed the case before the warrant of arrest was issued.)
While the suspect recognizes that the student was only a minor, he asserts that he and the victim loved each other and they are aware of everything that happened.
“Minsan, sir, kahit anong talino mo, kapag pag-ibig, wala eh,” the suspect said.
(No matter how smart you are, love makes you a fool.)
Whether their relationship was real or not, the police said the suspect shall be held accountable given that the other party is a minor.
“Sa statutory rape po kasi, irregardless of yung consent, as long as the victim is a minor and there is a consent, non-abusive, non-exploitative yung carnal knowledge, pasok po kayo sa statutory rape,” said Mangaldan.
(When it comes to statutory rape, irregardless of the consent, as long as the victim is a minor, whether there’s a consent, it was non-abusive or the carnal knowledge is non-exploitative, it can still be a case of statutory rape.)
Meanwhile, a man was arrested in Tondo, Manila by Eastern Police District’s mobile force battalion for 10 counts of alleged rape of his stepdaughter in Pasig City.
