Person of interest in doctor's death in Naga identified — police

A person of interest has been identified in the death of a doctor in Naga City, according to the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5) on Tuesday.

“Ongoing investigation po ang Naga City Police Station with person of interest as of this time,” PRO 5 spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib told GMA News Online in a message.

In a statement issued Monday evening, the Naga City Police Office chief Police Colonel Erwin Rebellon said the search for the person of interest is ongoing.

“Patuloy ang paghahanap sa itinuturing na person of interest at bumuo na ng Special Investigation Team (SIT) ang Naga City Police Office. Hindi tayo titigil ang hangga’t hindi nahuhuli ang salarin,” he said.

(The search for the person of interest continues and the Naga City Police Office has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). We will not stop until the culprit is caught.)

On Sunday, the body of Dr. Rajean Monnette Romualdez was found in a parked car in a village in Barangay Concepcion Pequeña near the Bicol Medical Center, according to the police.

The 36-year-old obstetrician-gynecologist, who was a resident in Metro Manila, sustained a gunshot to her head.

“Kumakalap pa ng sapat na ebidensya ang kapulisan tulad ng CCTV footage, salaysay ng mga kapamilya at kakilalang biktima upang mapagtagpi-tagpi ang mga pangyayari na magbibigay-linaw sa malagim na sinapit ng biktima,” Rebellon said.

(The police are still gathering enough evidence such as CCTV footage, accounts of family members and acquaintances of the victim to piece together the events that will clarify the death of the victim.)

The Naga City government on Monday announced it is offering a P200,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that can help resolve the case. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
