Trekking activities resume at Mt. Hamiguitan in Davao Oriental

Trekking activities at the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary (MHRWS) in Davao Oriental, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site and ASEAN Heritage Park in Mindanao, have resumed.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Davao (DENR-11) said trekkers can explore the thrilling views and challenging terrains of Mt. Hamiguitan once again.

Trekking activities at Mt. Hamiguitan stopped for a year due to assessment and restoration of campsite facilities.

Those who wish to trek must secure a permit from the MHRWS' Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) and other documentary requirements.

The regular entrance fee is pegged at P3,000, which covers a three-day trek. Davao Oriental residents, students, senior citizens, and members of the Mountaineering Federation of Southern Mindanao (MFSM), and the Outdoors Club Federation, Inc. of Davao Oriental may get a discount.

DENR-11 added that tour guides are mandatory at P800 per day. — GMA Regional TV News
