3 barangay execs hurt in Maguindanao del Sur shooting

Three officials of Barangay Kaya-Kaya in Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao del Sur were injured after they were shot by unidentified assailants on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

The victims were identified as Edris Sangki, 54, incumbent barangay chairman; barangay councilman Penny Balawgan, 56; and the barangay treasurer.

They were brought to the hospital for treatment.

Police said the victims were on board two motorcycles when they were shot by the suspects on board a minivan.

Investigators recovered seven empty shells of an unknown firearm from the crime scene.

Authorities are still pursuing the suspects, as of this writing (Friday evening), while investigation continues to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive. — GMA Regional TV News
