Man in Taytay, Rizal dies after being stabbed due to alleged bullying

A man died after he was stabbed to death with an ice pick by his neighbor in Taytay, Rizal.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report in “Saksi” on Thursday, investigation by the police showed the suspect committed the crime due to the 30-year-old victim’s alleged bullying.

“They live in the same compound. On that day, the suspect invited the victim, pag-usapan 'yung kanilang alitan. But unexpectedly ay bumunot siya ng ice pick at pinagtataga niya itong biktima,” said Rizal Provincial Police Office Director Police Colonel Felipe Maraggun.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested during a follow-up operation. He explained that he stabbed the victim as an act of self-defense.

The suspect added that he and the victim had an argument over his payment to the latter. He also claimed that the victim threatened his life.

“Nakapatong lang po sa cabinet yung ice pick. Natulak niya po ako sa kwarto, kasi sabi niya P70 lang yung pera. Sa drugs po ‘yun, ma’am,” the suspect said.

(The ice pick was just placed at the top of the cabinet. He pushed me into the room because he said the money I gave him was only P70. It was supposedly for drugs.)

But the victim’s live-in partner denied the bullying allegations raised against her late partner. She added that the suspect had hurt her former partner twice before.

“Inambahan niya ng kutsilyo, yung pangalawa po, sinuntok niya. Ito yung pangatlo,” said Agnes Siar.

(He threatened to stab him before and the second time he punched him. This was the third time he threatened him.)

“Patay na yung tao, hindi nambu-bully ‘yun. Pinatay mo lang siya. Wala kang konsensya!” she cried. 

(He’s already dead and he never bullied anyone. You just wanted to kill him. You don’t have a conscience!)
