Minors riot allegedly over girlfriends in Cebu City

Two groups of minors engaged in a scuffle in Cebu City allegedly over their girlfriends.

According to a "24 Oras" report by Alan Domingo on Thursday, CCTV footage showed a group of boys walking along the street on Thursday morning when another group pelted them with rocks.

The incident led to an altercation involving 30 people, according to the barangay captain.

A 17-year-old involved in the incident claimed that the fight happened because the girlfriends of one of the groups bonded with some members of the rival group.

“Dahil sa babae, kanilang mga babae pumupunta sa Taboan dahil masaya sa Taboan. Sila sir parang nagselos, nagka-rambolan kami,” said the 17-year-old.

(Because of girls, their girlfriends went to Taboan because it was fun in Taboan. It seems like they got jealous, so we got into a fight.)

While no one was critically injured due to the fight, barangay officials have summoned the parents of the involved minors.
