BOC seizes more than P10M worth of 'shabu'

The Bureau of Customs was able to intercept 4 aluminum tubes containing suspected shabu at the BOC - Port of Clark.

According to a statement issued on Friday, the tubes originated from the United States and were falsely declared as a “Black Vinyl Window Made Out of PVC.”

The package was flagged for physical examination on January 19, and underwent x-ray scanning to reveal a black vinyl window with tempered glass that hid the 4 aluminum tubes.

Further examination revealed that the tubes contained 1,502.9269 grams of suspected shabu valued at P10.219 Million.

“This successful operation highlights our dedication in safeguarding our borders through increased vigilance and close cooperation with our partner agencies,” said District Collector Jairus Reyes.

“The BOC is dedicated in preventing smuggling activities and strengthening border security to protect our nation and citizens from the threats posed by illicit substances,” added BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/BAP, GMA Integrated News
