Visayas governors back Marcos admin anew

Governors from the Visayas expressed their support to the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. through a manifesto presented Thursday in Cebu City.
“Recognizing the remarkable progress the Marcos administration has achieved in advancing national development, driving economic recovery, and fostering regional growth, we wholeheartedly affirm our commitment to his leadership and vision for a Bagong Pilipinas — a government rooted in principles, accountability, and dependability, strengthened by unified societal institutions, all working toward a stronger, more prosperous, and united nation,” the manifesto read.
According to the Presidential Communications Office, 16 governors from Cebu and other Visayan provinces signed the manifesto presented during a luncheon meeting, one of four events that Marcos and Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo attended as part of their first visit to Cebu in 2025.
A collection of past and present Cebu governors also signed a similar manifesto during the province’s founding anniversary last August 2024.
In his speech, Marcos reminded governors and other elected officials in the Visayas to prioritize development projects and to finish them on time.
The President also identified the key government infrastructure projects in the Visayas as the New Cebu International Container Port, the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit Project, the fourth Cebu-Mactan Bridge, and the coastal road project.—Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
