BOC seizes P9.8M worth of smuggled cigarettes in Davao

The Bureau of Customs has seized 251 master cases of smuggled cigarettes worth more than P9.8 Million at the Port of Davao.

According to a statement released Thursday, the cigarettes were found hidden among blue crates and personal effects inside a truck at a checkpoint on a major road leading to Davao City.

Authorities were able to uncover 251 cases with 50 reams of cigarettes each, valued at around P9,861,790.

The contraband was handled accordingly between the BOC Port of Davao’s Enforcement Security Office and Task Force Toril under Task Force Davao. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
