2 killed, 1 hurt after drug suspects try to rob cops in buy-bust operation
Two were killed and another was hurt after suspected drug dealers tried to rob millions of pesos from their buyers, who turned out to be undercover police officers, in Calamba, Laguna.
According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras," the suspects decided to stage an armed robbery after confirming that the group of poseur buyers had P13 million in their vehicle.
The suspects exchanged gunshots and two of the suspects were killed. Another was wounded in the shooting.
The police arrested other suspects, including a woman who is said to be the leader of the group.
They also seized two kilos of shabu and four guns.
“Mayroong namonitor ang PRO4A na grupong nagbebenta ng iligal na droga. Chineck muna kung totoo nga," said Police Brig. Gen Paul Kenneth Lucas, the director of the Police Regional Office 4A in CALABARZON.
(The PRO4A was able to monitor a group selling illegal drugs. We had to check first if it’s true… Our operatives had money, and when they confirmed that they had money, they immediately went back to their car.)
“Nagulat na lang itong mga kapulisan. Pagpasok ng babae sa sasakyan, agad na lumabas ang apat na kalalakihan at may dala-dalang mga firearms and pinutukan nila yung mga pulis, at nakaganti yung mga pulis natin,” he added.
(Our police were surprised. When the woman went back to the car, four armed men immediately came out and fired at our police, and our police were able to retaliate.)
“Itong babae ang lider ng grupo, despite the fact base sa investigation natin, lumalabas na civil engineer ang babaeng nahuli natin,” Lucas said.
(This woman is the leader of the group, even though based on our investigation, she is a civil engineer.)
“Yung mga baril na yan ay nasa forensic group, kanilang binaballistic [test]. Itong mga firearms ay baka nagamit sa krimen hindi lang dito sa CALABARZON kundi pati sa mga karatig na probinsya sa CALABARZON,” he added.
(These guns are now with the forensic group, undergoing ballistic tests. These firearms may have been used in crimes not only within CALABARZON but also in neighboring provinces.)
CALABARZON police said that the two dead suspects haven' been claimed, and that the other arrested suspects have yet to issue a statement. –Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
