CamSur orders preemptive evacuation due to rains, flooding
The province of Camarines Sur has ordered preemptive evacuation in areas susceptible to flooding and landslides, with moderate to heavy rains expected in the area until Tuesday.
In a memorandum posted on social media on Sunday, Governor Vincenzo Renato Luigi Villafuerte directed local disaster risk reduction and management councils to implement the preemptive evacuation, in coordination with barangay councils.
He also urged response agencies and organizations to provide “immediate support” for evacuation operations, and ensure that resources and manpower are deployed as needed.
“All necessary measures must be undertaken to minimize the impact of this weather disturbance,” the memorandum read.
The state weather bureau PAGASA expects moderate to heavy rainfall in Camarines Sur from Sunday evening until Tuesday evening due to the Shear Line, indicating that localized flooding and landslides are possible in highly susceptible areas.
To recall, last October the province was hit by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami), partially submerging several towns and impacting thousands of residents in the province. — BM, GMA Integrated News
