Man killed on birthday over videoke session

A man died on his birthday celebration on Sunday evening when he was stabbed during an altercation over a videoke session in General Trias, Cavite.

According to Ivan Mayrina's report on Saksi on Thursday, the victim identified as James Bryan Luna was just pacifying a heated argument between his brother and a neighbor, who is a bantay-bayan.

Allea Jane Villeza, the victim’s live-in partner, recalled that their neighbor asked her partner to turn off the videoke because it was already 10 p.m., which they heeded.

But the neighbor called them out again because the victim’s brother later played some music from a speaker. This led to a tension between Luna's brother and the bantay-bayan neighbor.

The tension later became physical and the neighbor’s companion brought with him a katana.

Luna’s brother is in critical condition as he sustained stab wounds in different parts of his body, including on the neck and near his kidney.

“My partner just wanted to pacify the fight. But when he turned around, he was stabbed near his heart,” said Villeza in Filipino.

The two suspects are currently missing.

“You will be found no matter what, so there’s no point in hiding. I just want justice for my partner,” said Villeza. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
