13K devotees flock to Nazareno 2025 Traslacion in Cagayan de Oro

More than 13,000 Catholic devotees joined the Traslacion in Cagayan de Oro City on Thursday, January 9, 2025, authorities said.

In a post on X, GMA Regional TV News said the image of the Black Nazarene arrived at the Jesus Nazarene Parish - Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazareno before noon.

Fewer devotees were observed this year, according to the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, GMA Regional TV reported.

“The scores of devotees were largely observant due to the safety protocols set in place by the city police and Cagayan de Oro City Hall to ensure a peaceful and meaningful observance of the religious event,” Cagayan de Oro City Information Office said on Facebook.

Earlier this month, the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno or Quiapo Church said the Feast of the Jesus Nazareno will be celebrated nationwide with the series of activities set to start on January 9.

It said the application to declare Jesus Nazareno feast as a national feast was submitted to the Vatican together with the application to declare Quiapo Church as a national shrine.
