2 men arrested for parricide in Davao, Ilocos Norte
Authorities arrested two men in two separate operations, one in Davao City and the other in Ilocos Norte, for killing one of their family members.
In Rgil Relator’s Monday report on "State of the Nation," a 71-year-old senior citizen was fatally stabbed on his nape and shoulder by his 33-year-old son in Davao City.
Investigation showed that the crime took place when the victim was chopping wood.
The suspect also stabbed his mother and is receiving medical treatment.
According to the barangay captain, the suspect and his parents kept on arguing allegedly because he was lazy and they wanted him to get a job.
The barangay captain also said the suspect only came home when it was time to eat, as he was always out having a drink with friends.
The suspect was nabbed in another sitio and is facing parricide and frustrated parricide charges.
The barangay also decided to get the suspect a checkup at the Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioural Medicine.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man was declared dead on arrival after he was shot by his father in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.
According to the police, the victim was having a drink with his 58-year-old father when his parents suddenly argued because of jealousy.
When the son tried to intervene, his father shot him.
The police recovered some magazines and bullet casings at the crime scene.
The police also arrested the suspect, who refused to comment on the incident.
