Husband fatally stabs wife inside jeepney in Lapu-Lapu City
A 42-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her estranged husband inside a modern jeepney in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
According to Super Radyo Cebu's Decemay Padilla, the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office reported that the couple had been separated for 12 years.
The suspect, harboring suspicions that the victim was involved with another man, had been secretly stalking her.
The suspect attacked the victim, stabbing her six times.
In the chaos, another female passenger, who tried to escape the jeepney, also died due to cardiac arrest.
Authorities promptly arrested the suspect following the incident.
In Louanne Mae Rondina’s Monday report on Saksi, the suspect denied the allegations.
“Hindi ko ginawa, sir. Malinis ang aking konsensya. Hindi ko ginawa ‘yun sa asawa ko, labingdalawang taon kaming hiwalay,” the suspect said.
(I did not do it, sir. I did not kill my wife. We have been separated for 12 years.)
The CCTV inside the jeepney was allegedly broken so the incident was not captured.
Meanwhile, the jeepney driver and conductor allegedly have not yet reported to work.
The wife's family refused to make any comments about the incident.
The owner of the jeepney extended help to the families of the two victims.
