A 6-year-old girl who went out on Christmas day to get her gifts died after an SUV hit her family's motorcycle in Naga, Cebu.
According to John Consulta’s report in State of the Nation on Wednesday, the passengers were thrown meters from their motorcycle due to the impact of the collision.
The girl’s parents both survived but the father is in critical condition.
“My granddaughter was severely injured because it seemed that her body was crushed after they were hit,” said Consine Delute, the girl's grandfather, said in the vernacular.
The kin of the victims will file charges against the SUV driver.
Charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury, and damage to property will be filed against the suspect.
The 21-year-old suspect apologized for the incident. He admitted that he fell asleep while driving after coming from the wake and burial of her mother.
