P15M worth of tampered LPG tanks seized in Bulacan
Authorities seized P15 million worth of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks whose weights are being tampered with in a warehouse in Guiguinto, Bulacan.
According to Emil Sumangil’s exclusive report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, the search warrant was issued following complaints from nearby residents.
(They are tampering with the weights of these tanks so instead of 11 kgs, they are just filling them up to 9 kgs. So the refilling stations are behind this scheme. Hence, this practice leads to unfair competition and of course, it is a violation of intellectual property rights.)
Because these LPG tanks are being tampered, they are cheaper compared to the original ones being sold in the market.
But authorities warned that these tampered LPG tanks could be dangerous.
“May mga times na sumasabog po ito. Wala po ‘yang quality control,” said Driz.
(These could explode because they did not undergo quality control.)
Six individuals were arrested during the police operation, while the warehouse owner is still at large.
