Over 400 pieces of 'boga' destroyed in Rizal
Authorities seized and destroyed 440 pieces of boga (improvised cannon) in Rizal on Tuesday.
This was part of the campaign of the Rizal Provincial Police Office (PPO) for a safe celebration of the holiday season, according to an “Unang Balita” report on Wednesday.
Tin cans, plastic bottles, PVC pipes, and toy guns were among the materials used to make the prohibited noise-making device.
The Rizal PPO said that it will keep up its fight against illegal firecrackers and that anyone found producing, distributing, or using them will be fined.
The Philippine National Police-Civil Security Group (PNP-CSG) earlier said there are 28 prohibited firecrackers, including Watusi, Piccolo, Five Star (Bog), and Pla-Pla.
The PNP also urged the public not to light firecrackers in residential areas in welcoming the New Year to ensure everyone’s safety.
