Raft carrying patient swept away amid heavy rains in Aklan
Heavy rains triggered by a shear line swept away a raft carrying a patient across a river in Libacao, Aklan, according to Saleema Refran’s Monday 24 Oras report.
The incident occurred as the patient was being transported to a hospital.
Fortunately, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) came to the rescue and ensured the patient was safely brought to hospital.
In Kalibo, a section of a revetment wall collapsed, causing a passing truck to fall through. Two individuals sustained injuries and were immediately taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, in Palawan's Puerto Princesa City, heavy downpours caused by the trough of the former Tropical Depression Romina resulted in leg-deep floods.
“Hindi po ordinaryo ang mga rainfall na bumagsak sa atin ngayon sabi ng PAGASA. Kung babaseban kesa sa mga previous na ulan, talagang mataas ang millimeter nya,” said Richard Ligad, Puerto Princesa City information officer.

Beyond the Visayas, parts of Mindanao also faced heavy rains in the days leading up to Christmas.
Localized thunderstorms caused flooding in areas such as Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, where a wet market was inundated amid the holiday rush.
In Digos and Bansalan, Davao del Sur, flooded roads inconvenienced motorists and commuters.
