3 die after 15 boy scouts electrocuted in Zamboanga

Three boy scouts died while 12 others were injured after they were electrocuted while setting up camp during the 2024 Council Scout Jamboree at the Climaco Freedom Park in Pasonanca, Zamboanga City on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the boy scouts were transferring their tent to another area when part of the tent accidentally touched a live wire.

The 12 injured boy scouts sustained electrical burns and are reportedly in safe condition, as of this writing.

Because of the incident, the local government cancelled the four-day activity from December 12 to 15, 2024, which was supposed to be attended by around 2,000 boy scouts in the city.

Authorities are investigating the incident, as of this writing.
