17-year-old hacked to death over teasing after Christmas party

A 17-year-old teenager died after being hacked by his brother-in-law over teasing after a Christmas party in Antipolo.

According to Ian Cruz’s report on "24 Oras," the victim’s relatives discovered his amputated hand in their house in Barangay Bagong Nayon.

The incident happened at 3 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the police, the victim and the suspect went home together from a Christmas party.

“Nagkaroon ng pagtatalo, nauwi sa hindi maganda, nataga nga nung suspect 'yung biktima at may tama rin ng saksak,” said P/Captain Alnor de Vera Tagara, chief of the Investigation and Operation Section of the Antipolo Component City Police Station.

(They had an argument, which led to unfavorable events. The suspect hacked and stabbed the victim.)

The victim was declared dead on arrival in the hospital. He was also stabbed in the head, chest and back.

“Bago tuluyang madala sa ospital, nakausap nu'ng nanay 'yung kaniyang anak. Then nai-narrate niya 'yung pangyayari kung sinong gumawa sa kaniya, kung sinong nanaga. 'Yung kamag-anak naman nu'ng suspect natin ay voluntarily sinuko 'yung suspect sa barangay,” Tagara said.

(Before being taken to the hospital, the victim talked to his mother. He narrated the incident and who hacked him. The suspect’s relative voluntarily surrendered him to the barangay.)

The bolo used in the incident was recovered at the back of the house.

Meanwhile, the suspect is under the Antipolo City Police and facing murder complaints.

“Natutulog po kasi ako. Bigla po akong hinampas ng kahoy tapos binantaan pa ako na sasaksakin niya daw ako, papatayin,” the suspect explained.

(I was sleeping when he suddenly hit me with a wood and threatened that he would stab and kill me.)

Contrary to the suspect’s statement, the victim’s uncle said the argument started with jokes when the victim and the suspect were drunk.

“Sabi nu'ng biktima daw, pabiro, “tagain kita diyan eh.” e 'di nag-isip 'yung suspect po na baka totohanin kaya inunahan niya na,” said Joseph delos Santos, the victim’s uncle.

(The victim joked that he would hit the suspect. The suspect thought the victim would actually do it, he forestalled the action.)

Meanwhile, in Barangay San Jose, a 39-year-old man sustained injuries on his face after his drinking buddy hit him with a bolo over a missing wallet.

The victim sustained injuries to his face and was rushed to the hospital. He was eventually discharged.
