Ambuklao, Binga, Magat dams release water

Three major dams including Ambuklao, Binga, and Magat released water on Monday, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In an update, PAGASA said one gate is opened in Ambuklao Dam releasing 53.84 cubic meters per second (cms) of water; one gate in Binga Dam releasing 53.70 cms; and also one gate in Magat Dam releasing 267.50 cms.

The water level in Ambuklao is at 751.70 meters which is close to its normal high water level of 752 m. The water level in Binga is 574.31 m, which is also near its normal high of 575 m.

The water level in Magat is at 186.57 m, which is around 7 m lower its normal high of 193 meters.

The affected areas are:

  • Barangay Ambuclao, Bokod, Benguet
  • Barangay Dalupirip and Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet
  • Municipalities Alfonso (Ifugao), Ramon, San Mateo, Aurora, Cabatuan, Luna, Reina Mercedes, Burgos, Naguillian, and Gamu.

Meanwhile, the water level increased in the following dams on Thursday:

  • Angat - from 200.11 to 200.17 meters
  • Ipo - from 100.17 to 10.37 m
  • Ambuklao - from 751.62 to 751.70 m
  • San Roque - from 280.65 to 280.66 m
  • Caliraya - from 287.47 to 288.01 m

PAGASA on Monday said rains are expected as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting Mindanao while the shear line is affecting the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
