CAR, MIMAROPA wage hikes approved by regional boards


The  Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) approved a P40 wage increase in the region, bringing the daily minimum wage from P430 to P470.

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the wage order was affirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) and were set to take effect on December 24, 2024. 

The RTWPB likewise approved a P1,100 monthly increase for domestic workers (kasambahays) in the region, bringing the monthly minimum wage from P4,900 to P6,000.

Likewise, the RTWPB MIMAROPA granted a P35 increase in the minimum wage, hiking the daily minimum wage in establishments with 10 workers and above to P395 to P430 while those in establishments with fewer than 10 workers will increase from P369 to P404.

A P1,000 monthly increase for domestic workers was likewise approved, bringing the sector’s monthly minimum wage to P6,500.

The wage order will take effect on December 22, 2024. 

"The wage orders are expected to directly benefit a total of 74,961 minimum wage earners in these two regions," the DOLE said.

"The wage increases for kasambahays are also expected to benefit a total of 40,116 domestic workers—approximately 25% (10,002) of whom are on live-in arrangements," it added. 

In May, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said some regional wage boards will begin the review of wage orders after President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. ordered a review of the minimum wage rates in every region.

Laguesma previously said the DOLE is expectng all RTWPBs cross the country to finish their review before the end of the year. — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA Integrated News
