Marcos to Central Mindanao farmers: Conserve natural resources
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday called on local farmers in Central Mindanao to continue conserving the abundant natural resources in the region.
“Tunay ngang napakaganda ng Sarangani—mula sa inyong mga likas na yaman hanggang sa inyong masaganang agrikultura,” Marcos said in his speech in Sarangani province.
(Sarangani is truly beautiful, from your natural resources to vibrant agriculture.)
“Patuloy pa natin itong iniingatan at pinapatatag dahil napapadalas ang bagyo sa ating bansa bunsod ng tinatawag na climate change o pagbabago ng ating klima,” he added.
(We should keep protecting and strengthening them in light of the increased frequency of tropical cyclones in the country as a result of climate change.)
Marcos, who served as Agriculture chief at the start of his presidency, touted the near completion of the flood mitigation structure in Alabel and Kiamba.
He hopes that the flood control infrastructure will help in mitigating floods and damage to the province's crops.
A total of 1,251 land titles covering 2,174.52 hectares were distributed to agrarian reform beneficiaries in Sarangani province. This also includes the issuance of 1,248 e-titles under the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) Project.
According to the Department of Agrarian Reform, the assurance of land tenure is an important driver of various benefits to farmers, including poverty reduction and food security.
It also aims to empower rural communities to invest in agriculture and sustainable land management, which leads to increased agricultural productivity and income. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
