1 reported dead, 3 missing in Bicol amid landslides, floods
One person was reported dead while three others were reported missing in Bicol as landslides and floods hit the region due to the rains brought by the shear line, according to reports on Monday.
The fatality was reported after a landslide in Barangay Anameam in Labo, Camarines Norte, according to the police.
The victim and his wife were buried in the landslide. They were brought to a hospital for treatment but the male victim was declared dead on arrival.
Three people were also reported missing in Camarines Sur, according to a report on Unang Balita on Monday.
Two of the missing persons were reported in Cabusao while the other one in Ragay, GMA Integrated News’ stringer Peewee Bacuño told Unang Balita.
Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 5 director Claudio Yucot said in a Dobol B TV interview that the two missing persons in Cabusao were senior citizens who crossed a flooded spillway onboard an electric bike.
“Tumawid po sila sa spillway. Inanod 'yung kanilang sinakyan na e-bike. Kaninang umaga po, e-bike lamang po 'yung na-recover. 'Yung dalawang senior citizens as per report hindi pa nakikita,” Yucot said.
(They crossed the spillway. The e-bike they were riding was washed away. This morning, only the e-bike was recovered. The two senior citizens as per report have not been seen yet.)
Bicol
Up to neck-deep flood was reported in Barangay Bulabog in Sorsogon City, according to a report of Dano Tingcungco.
In Del Gallego, Camarines Sur, a spillway was submerged in flood due to the continuous rains which started on Sunday.
The residents in areas prone to floods and landslides were advised to evacuate from their homes.
In Catanduanes, landslides and rockslides were also reported. Clearing operations have been conducted.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) warned of possible lahar flow from Mayon Volcano in Albay.
In Manito, Albay, some residents have to evacuate from their houses due to floods. Some people were rescued amid the rising water level of a river, according to a report of James Agustin.
Visayas and Mindanao
In Capiz, vehicles broke down in the middle of knee-deep floods.
In the town of Sapian, rescue operations were conducted to save residents stuck in their homes in the middle of floods in low-lying areas.
Meanwhile in Kiamba, Sarangani, a school was submerged in flood and equipment was seen floating in floodwaters. When the flood subsided, teachers had to go to the campus on Sunday to clean up the mud in the classrooms.—Joviland Rita, with a report from JP de Leon/AOL, GMA Integrated News
