Antipolo bishop warns vs fake FB account using his name, photo
Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Cruz Santos has warned the public of a Facebook account that uses his name and photo without consent.
“I have recently been informed that a fake Facebook account has been created in my name by someone with self-serving interests. That account was made without my knowledge and consent,” Santos said in a Facebook post.
“Please be warned that anyone using that fake account to ask for donations or solicit financial help is NOT acting on my behalf. I will never ask for personal monetary assistance,” he added.
Shared by Santos, another Facebook post showed that the fake Facebook account had a cover photo of the prelate with other clergy members and had 21 followers when a screenshot was taken.
The Facebook account also indicates that Santos is a “digital creator.”
In early November, the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay in Northern Palawan urged the public to report a Facebook account that “maliciously” uses photos of Bishop Broderick Pabillo.
Among the posts on the fake Facebook account showed that it received its “first investment profit,” amounting to P400,000 through an e-wallet. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
