Camarines Sur governor orders pre-emptive evacuation amid heavy rainfall
Camarines Sur Governor Luigi Villafuerte has order local disaster risk reduction and management councils to conduct a pre-emptive evacuation to areas highly susceptible to flooding and landslides following heavy to intense rainfall in the province on Sunday.
"The Province of Camarines Sur is currently under Heavy Rainfall Warning (Red Warning Level). Based on PAGASA's Weather Advisory No. 21, heavy to intense rains is expected until this evening (December 1)," Villafuerte said in a memo issued to local officials and emergency response agencies.
He noted that heavy to intense rains due to the Shear Line is expected until Monday, December 2, that can cause flooding in urban, low-lying areas, and areas near rivers. He added that landslides are also expected in moderate to highly susceptible areas.
"In line with this, all LDRRMC's are hereby directed to implement pre-emptive evacuation in areas identified as moderately to highly and very highly susceptible to flooding and landslides," he said, adding that officials should coordinate with barangay officials to identify susceptible areas.
"All necessary measures must be undertaken to minimize the impact of this weather disturance," said Villafuerte. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
