IN THE PAST 24 HOURS

Kanlaon had 3 ash emissions, 26 volcanic earthquakes

Three ash emissions, which lasted from eight to 10 minutes, as well as 26 volcanic earthquakes, were recorded at Kanlaon Volcano in a 24-hour period, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said Saturday.

The Kanlaon Volcano also emitted 6,025 tonnes of sulfur dioxide flux on Friday, November 29.

The volcano in Negros Island, which had continuous degassing with occasional ash emission, discharged 150-meter tall plume and drifted southwest.

PHIVOLCS warned that the volcano's edifice is inflated.

Entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone is now allowed, and flying any aircraft close to the volcano.

Possible hazards may include sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions and precursory magmatic activity.

Alert Level 2 is currently raised at Kanlaon Volcano following an “increased unrest” following its explosive eruption on June 3.
