Rider killed after hitting metal pipe in Iloilo

A motorcycle rider in Tigbauan, Iloilo was killed after he was hit by a metal pipe mounted on a kolong-kolong (motorcycle with sidecar) that was crossing the road.

According to a Saksi report by Aileen Pedreso on Thursday, CCTV footage showed the kolong-kolong crossing the road with the pipe when the motorcycle suddenly sped past.

The rider hit the pipe, causing him to fall on the pavement.

The motorcycle’s momentum caused it to crash into a pick-up truck,

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

“Ang motor na dina-drive ng biktima, biglang nag-overtake sa jeep. Blind side sila, so timing na ang mahabang dulo ng pipe, inabot niya,” said Tigbauan police chief Police Captain Alfred Mansoy.

(The motorcycle being driven by the victim suddenly overtook a jeep. The rider was blind sided, so he ended up hitting the long end of the pipe.)

The victim’s family and the riders of the kolong-kolong have yet to issue any comment on the incident.
