Woman applies for CENOMAR, gets marriage certificate instead

A woman who applied for a certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR) with the Philippine Statistics Authority office in Bacolod City was shocked when she instead received a copy of her marriage certificate.

According to the report on "Saksi" by GMA Regional TV's Adrian Prietos, Evelyn Ruelan said she had yet to get married. The document showed she was married to an Indian citizen in Valenzuela.

Ruelan said she had yet to meet the husband on her marriage certificate. She also has yet to be in Valenzuela.

Still, the marriage certificate contained her correct personal details.

Ruelan is scheduled to get married to her partner in December.

She said she would postpone the wedding until the issue is settled.

Ruelan is slated to go to the PSA in Bacolod for an investigation.

John Campomanes, chief statistical specialist of the PSA in Negros Occidental, said someone might have used her details or that the party failed to disclose a previous marriage.—NB, GMA Integrated News
