Man killed in Cebu City allegedly due to an unpaid debt
In Cebu City, a man died on the spot after he was shot allegedly due to his failure to pay his debt.
In Efren Mamac’s Monday report on "Saksi," the suspect - an 18-year-old teenager - has been identified as a neighbor and a close family friend.
“Bakti nagawa nila yun sa aking ama? Maayos naman ang pakikitungo ng aking ama sa kanila. Tapos, yung ang gagawin nila sa papa ko,” the victim’s daughter said.
(Why did they do that to my father? My father treated them well and they did that to him?)
“Yung batang yan, malapit sa akin, kaya malapit din siya kay papa. Sa tuwing pupunta ako rito, siya ang sasalubong sa akin,” the victim’s son said.
(The kid has been close to me so he is also close to my father. Every time I come here, he always welcomes me.)
According to the initial investigation by the police, the victim borrowed P400 from the suspect.
Cebu City Police Office Station 7 Chief Police Major Jeciree Basitao said that when the suspect learned that the victim won in an online game, he wanted to ask the victim to return his money.
However, when the suspect went to the victim’s house, he was not there.
The suspect returned to the victim's house to ask that his money be returned. The suspect was not able to retrieve his money because there was no money left.
The suspect has been arrested and is facing a murder charge. GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak has sought for a statement from the suspect. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
