WATCH: Pepito causes storm surge in Polillo Islands
Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-Yi) caused a storm surge in Polillo Islands in Quezon on Sunday morning.
Waves could be seen reaching the road in a video posted on social media.
In another video taken by netizen Lhai Abella on Saturday morning, the storm surge could be seen at the New Baywalk in Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion also in Polillo Islands.
Trees were swaying in the strong winds.

The local government also posted a video on social media showing the storm surge in Polillo Island at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Some areas were flooded in Polillo Islands due to the storm surge.
Netizen Victor Cajag Jr. also posted a video of the storm surge in Polillo Islands.
PAGASA issued a storm surge warning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, saying that "a high risk of storm surge may occur within the next 48 hours."
It said there exists the possibility of life-threatening inundation from rising sea water along with high waves in the low-lying coastal communities in some municipalities in the provinces of Pangasinan, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte. The storm surge may reach more than 3 meters in these provinces, PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, storm surge of 2.1 to 3 meters may also occur in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela, Bataan, Zambales, Metro Manila, Quezon, Batangas, Cavite, Marinduque, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon.
Storm surge reaching 1 to 2 meters may also be experienced in Ilocos Norte, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Metro Manila, and Sorsogon, PAGASA added.
The weather bureau advised residents in low-lying coastal communities to:
- Stay away from the coast or beach.
- Cancel all marine activities.
- Move to higher grounds away from the coast and storm surge-prone areas.
- Be aware and follow latest updates from DOST-PAGASA.
PAGASA will issue the next storm surge warning at 2 p.m.
The center of the eye of Pepito was last spotted at 7 a.m. over the coastal waters of Vinzons, Camarines Norte.
It has maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 255 km/h, and central pressure of 925 hPa.
Pepito was moving northwestward at 15 km/h, with strong to typhoon-force winds extending outwards up to 300 km from the center.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5 was hoisted over Calaguas Islands and the eastern portion of Polillo Islands (Patnanungan, Jomalig) on Sunday at 8 a.m. as Pepito moved over the sea east of Quezon, PAGASA said.
