Iron rod that pierced boy's eyelid removed
The iron rod that pierced the left eyelid of a 10-year-old boy in Barangay Apas, Cebu City was removed successfully in a medical operation.
The elder sister of the boy informed GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak that the patient was operated on, evening of November 13, 2024, at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
He was already moved from the operating room to a hospital ward.
The sister said that the iron rod grazed slightly an area of the boy’s left eyeball but did not affect his vision, based on an eye examination the boy undertook to determine his visual acuity.
As of this writing (late Tuesday evening), the family of the boy is on the process of complying with the requirements needed for the patient to avail of zero billing under the "Malasakit Program" of the government.
To recall, the boy was on his way to school on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, and took a shorter route but landed in the hospital instead after an iron rod used to support a dangling electrical line hit him and pierced his eyelid.
Fire volunteers responded immediately and rushed him to the hospital. — GMA Regional TV
