Nueva Ecija man nabbed for sextortion of minor
A tricycle driver who possessed nude photos of a minor was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation for attempting to extort the victim’s family in Nueva Ecija.
In John Consulta’s 24 Oras report on Thursday, the suspect was nabbed inside a church where he met his victim’s mother.
The suspect arranged the meeting at the church, saying he would delete the explicit photos once he receives the amount of P8,000.
“Nanghihingi ng 8,000 pesos kapalit ng pag de-delete niya harapan doon sa nude picture (He was asking for P8,000 in exchange for deleting the nude photos),” said Atty. Yuri Beltran, chief of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cabanatuan.
According to authorities, the suspect met the 15-year old victim on social media, was able to convince the teenager for the said images and later demanded money so he would not lose his tricycle.
The NBI believes the suspect has other victims.
“Magkakaroon kami ng follow-up operation para malaman kung sino pa ang naging biktima (We will conduct a follow-up investigation to know if he has other victims,” Beltran said.
The suspect has yet to make a comment. He is facing several criminal charges.
“Robbery with intimidation against a person in relation with RA 10175, yung (the) Cybercrime Law,” Beltran said.
“Bantayan yung mga activities ng mga anak nila sa social media. Kung kahina-hinala, kausapin na nila at baka nabibiktima na ng ganitong scam,” Beltran advised parents and guardians.
