Priest in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island accused of hit and run
A priest in the Municipality of Santa Fe in Bantayan Island, northern Cebu was held under police custody for alleged hit-and-run incident.
The incident happened past 7 p.m. in Barangay Pooc, Santa Fe town on November 10, 2024.
The priest was on board his car when he hit two motorcycles, but did not allegedly bother to stop.
A motorist who noticed of blood stain on a portion of the priest’s car reported the incident to the police.
The priest was taken into police custody that same night.
Meanwhile, the two riders who sustained injuries were taken to a hospital in Cebu City.
Persons riding pillion sustained minor injuries, according to a report from the Santa Fe Police Station.
The priest settled the incident with the victims; hospital bills of one of them were paid reportedly.
At past 3 p.m. on November 11, 2024, the priest was released from custody.
However, according to a traffic investigator, the other victim is determined to file a case against him.
The priest was accused of drunk driving, but policemen negated the report.
“Sa amo assessment wala siya nakainom. Wala lang siya kabantay. Ang nahitabo ana medyo stress si Father kay naa man gud nagpost sa Facebook nga gibash siya ba, didto nastress siya,” Police Corporal Rafhy Joventud, investigator at Santa Fe Police Station, said. —GMA Regional TV
