LTO suspends driver's license of Korean who ran amok in Clark
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said on Monday that it issued a 90-day preventive suspension on the driver’s license of the Korean man who ran amok inside the Clark Freeport Zone last week.
“Due process will be observed on this incident and we assure the public that necessary sanctions will be imposed,” said LTO chief Vigor Mendoza III in a statement.
The suspension of license stemmed from the show-cause order (SCO) to the foreigner who struck a motorcycle rider and gasoline pump while trying to flee from the police.
The SCO calls on the Korean man to explain his recent action as it endangered human safety and property.
“Such act manifested an utter disregard of the traffic rules and regulations, making you an improper person to operate a motor vehicle,” the SCO read.
“Failure to submit an affidavit of explanation under oath at the above-stated time shall be construed as a waiver to be heard and to contravene the above-cited violation, leaving this Office to resolve the case administratively and accordingly based on the available records,” it added.
The Clark Development Corporation reported that the 41-year-old Korean suspect was found naked inside his vehicle.
The foreigner allegedly works at a casino in Clark and has been on leave since October 19.
The Korean driver was taken to a medical facility for treatment of second-degree burns and is now under hospital arrest. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
