Flower prices drop in Baguio before Undas due to oversupply
Heavy rains and an oversupply have driven down flower prices in Baguio City just ahead of Undas, leaving local vendors struggling to sell their stock as customers remain few.
Flower stalls are overflowing as much of the flower supply intended for regions like Bicol and Metro Manila could not be transported due to bad weather.
“Marami ang supply, oversupply, tapos kakaunti na ang namimili,” Zenny Boadilla, a flower vendor, said.
Despite the 24-hour operation of flower stalls in Baguio, sellers are hopeful for an increase in sales.
Nimfa Villanueva, a buyer transporting flowers to Pampanga, said, "Mura kasi dito."
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Benguet conducted rounds to monitor prices.
“We are doing this just to make sure na reasonable ang price,” Ralph Altiyen, consumer protection supervisor at DTI Baguio-Benguet, said.
