Illegal detention complaint filed vs. 8 Chinese after Bamban POGO raid
The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Wednesday filed an illegal detention complaint against eight Chinese nationals over the raid of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) firm in Bamban, Tarlac.
PNP-CIDG chief Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III filed a complaint affidavit against the Chinese nationals before the Department of Justice for holding two Chinese nationals in detention.
According to Torre, the respondents were named in previous cases.
Meanwhile, he said that the two Chinese victims were held against their will.
“They were made to work against their will. Gusto na nila umuwi, gusto na nila umayaw pero hindi sila pinapayagan lumabas,” Torre said in an ambush interview.
(They were made to work against their will. They wanted to go home, they wanted it over but they weren't allowed to leave.)
Torre said both the victims and the respondents are currently in police custody.
Authorities raided the Bamban POGO hub in March and rescued more than 800 Filipinos and foreign nationals from the compound.
Meanwhile, dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo is facing a qualified human trafficking case before a Pasig court as well as a graft case before a Valenzuela court.
A quo warranto petition was also filed against Guo with a Manila court, as well as a petition to cancel her birth certificate before a Tarlac court.
She is also facing a tax evasion complaint, 87 counts for money laundering, and a perjury and falsification complaint before the DOJ. — BM, GMA Integrated News
