Only Ambuklao, Binga, Magat dams still releasing water
Three dams in Luzon were still releasing water on Sunday, data from PAGASA showed.
These are Ambuklao Dam, Binga Dam, and Magat Dam, according to PAGASA-Flood Forecasting and Warning Section.
All three dams had one gate open as of 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan and San Roque Dam in Pangasinan and Benguet closed all its gates on Saturday.
At 8 a.m. Sunday, Ambuklao Dam in Bokod, Benguet had one gate open at 0.5 meter as the water level in its reservoir reached 751.78 meters. This is near the 752-meter spilling level.
Binga Dam in Itogon, Benguet meanwhile had one gate open also at 0.5 meter. Its water level was at 574.86 meters, very near the 575-meter spilling level of the dam.
Magat Dam, which straddles Ifugao and Isabela, on the other hand had one gate open at 2.0 meters on Sunday morning. The water level at its reservoir was at 189.27 meters, below its spilling level of 193 meters.
Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) dumped heavy rains over Luzon last week, which led to the rise in the water levels at the dam reservoirs. Several dams in Luzon had to open their gates then to prevent spillover. —KG, GMA Integrated News
