Four dead in Caramoran, Catanduanes landslide due to Kristine

Four died, including three children, in a landslide in Caramoran, Catanduanes on Wednesday morning amid the onslaught of Tropical Storm Kristine, according to Raffy Tima’s report on 24 Oras.

Layza Dacillo was working in Quezon City when she learned that their home was engulfed by a landslide during the storm, killing her 7-year-old daughter, her youngest sibling, and two nieces and nephews.

“I was just talking to them yesterday through video call. Then I received a call this morning that my daughter and sibling died,” Dacillo said in Filipino as she emotionally shared her last encounter with her daughter.

While her father, another sibling, and other relatives were rescued, Dacillo said that she is not aware of their condition now.

Unfortunately, Dacillo has yet to return to their hometown as sea trips are currently suspended due to the inclement weather.

“I need to go home, because it’s my daughter and my family. I really love them,” she said.

Catanduanes is currently under Storm Signal No. 2 as Kristine upgraded to a severe tropical storm category on Wednesday. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA Integrated News
