1 dead, 4 wounded after car hits parked truck in Antipolo

One person was killed and four were injured after after a supposedly speeding car crashed into a parked truck on Marcos Highway in Antipolo City.

According to Mariz Umali’s report on “24 Oras,” one of the passengers of the car was killed, while four people, including the driver, were injured in the accident that happened on early Tuesday.

The car’s impact was so strong that it spun around the road.

(Both parties are at fault. The truck was illegally parked and investigation showed that his hazard lights were off and he had no early warning device.)

“Yung kotse po ay mabilis tumakbo, nasa 90-180 kilometers per hour,” he added, saying that the highway only allows a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour.

(Meanwhile, the car was running at 90-180 kilometers per hour.)

Meanwhile, the truck driver argued that his hazards were turned on.

(I just parked for a while because I asked my passenger to buy me a coffee. If we are really at fault for parking our truck, I would take responsibility. But the truck driver was also speeding at that time.)

The authorities also found out that the car's driver had been drinking and had no driver’s license.

The car and truck drivers will undergo inquest proceedings on Wednesday, the report said.

The car driver, who refused to give a comment, will be charged for reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property with homicide and physical injuries.
