Over P500M worth of fake goods seized in CebuĀ 

More than half a billion worth of counterfeit Louis Vuitton products were seized by the National Bureau of Investigation operatives in several shops in Mandaue City, Cebu. 

The NBI said that P528,883,755.33 worth of products illegally bear the luxury brand’s trademark. 

Among the items seized were 2,826 wallets, 1,718 bags, 263 belts, 115 keychains, 55 pieces of luggage, 40 scarves, 36 card holders, 32 shoes, 30 earrings, 10 hats, nine perfumes, nine socks, eight straps, five shirts, three makeup brushes, three tumblers, and two ready to wear dresses. 

Selling of counterfeit products can also lead to criminal charges under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. 

Louis Vuitton is a French brand with bags costing around P150,000 and above. 

According to the brand’s enthusiasts and collectors, some of the things to check to spot counterfeit Louis Vuitton bags include the monogram pattern it is known for, the stitching, the font, stamp code, among others.—Vince Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
