PCG: Over 400 passengers stranded at Bicol seaports due to Kristine

A total of 418 passengers were stranded in seven seaports across Bicol and one in Quezon due to the inclement weather brought by Tropical Depression Kristine, according to the Coast Guard (PCG).

These ports are Real Port in Quezon; Virac Port in Catanduanes; Placer Port, San Pascual Port, and Mobo Port in Masbate; and Matnog Port, Bulan Port and Pilar Port in Sorsogon.

Stranded at these ports as of Monday afternoon are 418 passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers; 25 vessels; 58 rolling cargoes; and three motorbancas. Another five vessels are taking shelter at the ports.

In an earlier Facebook post on Monday, Coast Guard District Bicol said it deployed its personnel to the seaports to ensure the safety and security of passengers, especially those who were stranded.

Signal No. 1 is hoisted over 13 areas in Luzon, including some provinces in Bicol.

Vessels were prohibited from sailing in Camarines Norte and Camires Sur while roll-on/roll-off or RORO vessels in Sorsogon plying main supply routes were allowed to sail with some conditions. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
